Do you sometimes feel like doing something extraordinary just to surprise yourself? Well, don’t we all? That’s the natural instinct in us that pushes us to want to take some daring steps; it’s just that some have the problem of sticking their neck out(even when they wish they can). And you agree with me when I say when we face and overcome smaller fears; we are better able to face bigger and bigger fears. The fear in this instance is the fear of skating.
Inline skating (currently the popular type of skating in Nigeria) is growing rapidly and at the same time receiving negative back lash. People say it’s a risky sport; that we don’t have good roads to skate on. But Naija, when you follow our skating activities you will see it is something more. Inline skating helps you keep your fitness high, challenge your ability and constantly give you something to learn.
I am a big fan of inline skating, which brought about the passion for this blog, and it’s only fair I let you in into how I got to be so crazy about the sport. It all started the evening I went to pay my dance coordinator a long due visit. On entering his room, I saw a pair of roller blade sitting in a corner. You see, I was so fascinated by it that I immediately demanded that he teaches me. *Smiles* I can still remember my first time on skate. It was like a crawling baby about to take her first step. I practically held on to a wall for the first few hours, considering the fact that I might fall and embarrass myself. “The fall is part of the fun” he told me. And boy was he right! It has never been the same ever since.
Learning how to skate has been an interesting experience for me, I want to share that world with you through quick tips, tricks and peeks at other skaters in Nigeria in other to motivate you to go take that daring move and start your own skating experience.
